Upcycling workshop 2020

Today I attended the upcycling workshop at NochMall GmbH - https://www.nochmall.de.

Prologue

NochMall GmbH is a small company of Berliner Stadtreinigungsbetriebe Aö. NochMall GmbH is a second hand department store (Gebrauchtwarenkaufhaus). They just opened it recently on 8 August 2020. I visited the store to know how it looks and what they offer. I find some products and most of the articles are in purchasable condition and quite clean. The next time i visited the store i attend the workshop "upcycling.

Instructor
The workshop upcycling is conducted by Safak Yüreklik. She has an online shop - https://en.diedrittehand.berlin/ where she sells upcycled products.

From the workshop there were several items repurposed to different uses. For example the pepper and other spices small bottles are repurposed as painting brush holders and for cleaning paint brushes.

In the workshop everyone was given a choice to pick up a product that they want to create or upcycle. I chose to upcycle a dishwasher gel bottle. The instructor gave us printed instructions to help us in the process and she was also explaining and showing how to use different tools. Below is the instruction sheet in German.

I marked the bottle with a black marker to cut it out to match with the finished product which is a small pocket holder bag - Etui.

In order to make the small pocket holder bag or Etui. I used a small driller and made holes at the bottle cap neck area in order to have space to keep the scissors to cut at a small distance close enough to the marked line on the bottle. After the initial cutting I did the second cutting on the marked line. After that I used a lighter to smooth the rough edges on the cut area. Then I used the hair dryer to make the bottle softer to bend and form a closing for the bottle. Next I drilled five holes.
  • one hole is for the button
  • two holes for the thread
  • two holes for the plastic wear to lock the bottle.

This is the finished product

Intel Edison arduino MicroSD card 128 GB flashing from exFat to Fat32 format

I bought a 128GB microSD card from samsung, in order to extend my storage space in Intel Edison arduino.  But, there is a missing information about the microSD card support in the technical specifications in the official page Intel visit: https://software.intel.com/en-us/iot/hardware/edison# So, I asked the Intel support.  They replied with the information about microSD card.  Intel Edison arduino supports SDHC (2GB to 32GB) and SDXC (32GB to 2TB) micro SD cards. But, it needs to be in FAT32 and not exFat Format. In order to format, I used the tool - ' HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool  2.2.3' to format exFa t file type of the microSD card to Fat32 format. You can download the tool from filehippo visit: http://filehippo.com/download_hp_usb_disk_storage_format_tool/ After completing the format and mounting the microSD card to intel edison.   Finally, i was able to see the microSD card being detected in the terminal.

depletion of IPv4 and start of IPv6

lets welcome IPv6, You do not need to change your system if you bought your system in these recent years say 3 years back from now. Because Intel, AMD and many other brands of motherboards have already updated their IPv6 internally. Check the below picture you can see a protocol version named IPv6. The Internet Society, an organization dedicated to the good of the Internet, is organizing "World IPv6 Day" on June 8 of this year. Web giants Facebook, Yahoo, and Google, with a combined one billion visitors per day, are participating by enabling IPv6 for their main services that day. But unlike during the IETF IPv6 experiment, IPv4 won't be turned off.
